Legislative Bill Tracking – 2015
April 28, 2015 | Policy
The Older Americans Act (OAA) mandates that LTCOPs provide systems-level advocacy to assure that the needs of long-term care residents are fully represented. Represent the interests of residents before governmental agencies and seek administrative, legal, and other remedies to protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of residents.
This includes analyzing, commenting on, monitoring and suggesting changes to the laws, policies and regulations that impact long-term care residents and services. We facilitate public comment about the laws, regulations and policies. The State Ombudsman Office determines when deemed to be necessary this information to public and private agencies, legislators, and other persons, regarding: (1) the problems and concerns of individuals residing in long-term care facilities; (2) and recommendations related to these problems and concerns (Older Americans Act of 1965, Sec. 712(a)(3), 42 U.S.C. §3058g).
The LTC Ombudsman Office provides updates on legislation related to long-term care. If you wish to receive a daily update of these bills, during the legislative session, please send your name and email address to cindys@mschelps.org or call us at 800.562.6028. Thank you.
